BANGOR – Charles Wayne Lenfest, 74, died peacefully May 20, 2011, in Bangor, after a long illness. Charles was born May 7, 1937, in Old Town, the son of Charles and Mildred (Murray) Lenfest.

He was a very strong, caring, accepting husband, who will be dearly missed by his two sons and family. One of his greatest accomplishments was raising his two sons. Charles was raised on a farm and was an avid animal lover. As a young boy his favorite was his German shepherd. Charles joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. In the 1960s Charles traveled all over the United States and enjoyed all the many cities and towns he traveled to. He settled back in Maine and met his loving wife, Jessie Bolliger, and had two wonderful sons, Robert and Richard.

Charles is survived by sons, Richard Lenfest of Hampden and Robert and his wife, Erika Lenfest, and stepgrandson, Demytrius Smith, of LaGrange; a sister, Judy and her husband, Bill Comeau; two brothers, Richard and his wife, Lois Lenfest, and Augestine Willette; one godson, Zakery Boutillier; and a dear friend, Inez Buxton. Charles was predeceased by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. Burial with full military honors will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
