BANGOR – Tech. Sgt. Chester A. Kuchinski, 77, died May 24, 2011, of a brain tumor that once detected, took his life within months. He was born June 14, 1933, in Bangor, son of Felix John and Anna Alice (Potas) Kuchinski.
Chet graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1953, joined the Air Force in 1953 and married his wife, Pat, in 1953. He, his wife and three children enjoyed 20 years of military service, traveling and living in places in the U.S., France, Germany and Japan. After he retired in 1973, he moved his family to Alabama, but he and Pat wanted to return to Bangor, which they did in 1975. After retirement, he held several jobs, one being over-the-road truck driver. After his second retirement, he was a stay-at-home dad caring for his four-legged “children,” all having predeceased him, Sam, Penney, Bertha, Scamp, Jenny and Jake.
Chet is survived by his wife of 58 years; three children, Joseph, Jeffrey and Judy Lee; grandchildren, Brian and Brad Reeves, and Kane Kuchinski; one great-grandchild, Jayden Reeves; a brother and sister, Clifton Kuchinski and Marlene McPherson; also not named but very close to his heart, stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited for a time of fellowship Friday afternoon, May 27, at Chet’s residence, 695 Main St., Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
