MADAWASKA – Janet (Bourgoin) Pelletier, 86, was taken into God’s hands May 23, 2011, at a Madawaska health care facility to be with her beloved husband, Bob (Robert); and her sons, Roger, Denis, Steve and Tom; and her infant daughter, Mary. She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Stockholm, daughter of Hubade and Modeste (Pelletier) Bourgoin.
She was a member of Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 147 of Madawaska. Janet was well known for her cooking, knitting and gardening, and she was an avid reader. She was a woman of strong faith and her rosary was never too far from her. Her smile, positive attitude and unconditional love enriched the lives of her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Ron and his wife, Carlene, and their children, Jennifer Marston and her husband, Doug, her great-grandson, Jake, Stephanie Brown and her husband, Michael; George and his wife, Judy and their children, Lacey, Erica and Jordi; and Francis and his wife, Sherry, and their children, Lenny and Jasmine; and Denis’ children, Thomas “T.J.” and Kelly. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Amanda, Yvette and Jeannine Bourgoin, Inede (Reginald) Couturier, and Jeannette Pelletier; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Priscilla; and her brothers, Ned, George, Paul and Gerald. The family especially thanks the staff at Ridgewood Estates and Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Janet, especially during her final days.
Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. until time of service Friday at Lajoie Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Friday, May 27, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment will be after at the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit
