BANGOR and MILLINOCKET – Dominic P. D’Agostino, 88, died May 28, 2011, after a long illness. He was born June 6, 1922, in Millinocket, son of Camille and Mary (DiCentes) D’Agostino.
Dominic was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also served in the Maine Army Guard and the Seabee’s. He retired from Great Northern Paper Co., and was a graduate of Stearns High School. He was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church and member of Fourth Degree Pine Cone Assembly. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Hudson Grange and Bangor Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife, Etta D’Agostino of Bangor; three sons, Dominic Jr. of Texas, Douglas of Alaska, and Daniel and his wife, Kathy, of Hudson; three daughters, Rosemary and her husband, Michael Pooler of Medway, Marietta and her husband, Neal Crocker, of Pittston, and Gloria and her husband, Ronnie Green, of Texas; 13 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends; and one special niece, Shirley Dow. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Joseph; and a sister, Carolina.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday for a memorial gathering at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church.
