OLD TOWN – Cheryl Jean LeVasseur, 64, died May 30, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 6, 1947, in Old Town, a daughter of Henry and Rita (Rand) LeVasseur.
Cheryl attended Old Town schools and graduated from Old Town High School in 1965.
She was a licensed insurance agent and notary public for 37 years. Cheryl was a lifelong learner and took several classes at the University of Maine, as well as her own research through tapes and books on various subjects, especially foreign language. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and oil painting. In recent years she found a passion teaching Sunday school and helping youngsters prepare for their First Communion and Confirmation alongside her dear cousin, Pam Dunphy.
She is survived her mother, Rita LeVasseur of Old Town; two brothers, Glenn LeVasseur and his significant other, Nancy Michaud, of Old Town, and Timothy LeVasseur and his wife, Deb, of Clinton; a niece, Amber LeVasseur of Portland; aunt, Peggy Languette of Oakland; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Henry, in 1991.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town.
