At a very young age, Adelaide crossed the St. John River by boat with her mother and siblings to move to Stockholm. She had many fine memories of her life in Stockholm and her many friends there. She frequently spoke of her brothers starting a community band and later playing an accordion with them at many social functions in the area. She attended school in Stockholm and at age 19, she married Gunnar Sandstrom who predeceased her. She moved to Carteret, N.J., in 1951, where she was employed by Jersey Mortage Co., where she met and married Dan Klein, who predeceased her. In 1957, Adelaide moved to Jacksonville, Fla., and was employed at Jacksonville University until her retirement in 1984. She was a computer operator in the registrar’s office at a time when computers took up whole rooms. She took great pride in caring for her yard and many flowers. She also enjoyed knitting. She returned to Maine in 2009 where she lived until her death.
She is survived by her two children, Jacqueline Simoneaux and her husband, Jules, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Michael Sandstrom and his wife, Anne, of Stockholm; seven grandchildren, Steve Simoneaux and his wife, Janet, of Coral Springs, Fla., Rene Miller and her husband, Gordon, of Jacksonville, Fla. Guy Simoneaux and his wife, Linda, of McDonough, Ga., Timothy Sandstrom and his companion, Claudia Springer, Tamara Cote and her husband, Jeff, all of Stockholm, Jennifer Sandstrom of Wilmington, N.C., and Jessica Richardson and her husband, Michael, of Turner; 14 great-grandchildren, Alex Simoneaux of Coral Springs, Fla., Sarah and Richard Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., Jessica and Guy Jr. Simoneaux of McDonough, Ga., Caleb Sandstrom of Mesa, Ariz., Jade Anderson of Caribou, Brady Anderson of Stockholm, Lindsey and Courtney Cote of Stockholm, Cody Douglass of Turner, Kayla, Melissa and Cali Richardson of Turner; two special nephews, Germain and Roger Gagne of Edmundston, New Brunswick; and her special friends, Freda Morin of Madawaska, Queenie Peterson of Caribou and Vivian Anderson of Van Buren. Mrs. Klein was predeceased by nine siblings, Rosa, Noella, Georgianna, Delina, Irene, Gertrude, Mitchell, Joseph and Eugene. The family is sincerely thankful to the staff at Country Village Estates and High View Manor for the outstanding care they provided our mother during her stay with them.
