VAN BUREN – Antoinette M. Deschaine, 81, died June 2, 2011, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in New Canada, daughter of Joseph and Delia (Labbe) Lamarre.

She attended school in New Canada and received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Mrs. Deschaine taught school for 35 years, five years in the Fort Kent school district and 30 years in the Van Buren school system, retiring in 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Deschaine of Tennessee and Lee Deschaine and his wife, Donna, of Hamlin; one daughter, Janine Soucy and husband, David, of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Katie Beckwith and Brenton Soucy; one great-granddaughter, Andy Amayah; and two sisters, Lena Plourde of Southington, Conn., and Doris Dube of Eagle Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Deschaine, in 1999; four brothers and seven sisters, Neil, Armand, Edmund, Joseph, Blanche, Marion, Rose, Jeannette, Annette, Jeanne and Yvette.

Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
