CORINNA – Harold J. Greene Sr., 78, died June 4, 2011, at his home in Clinton. He was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Pittsfield, son of Frank and Velma (Steeves) Greene.

Harold served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. in New Jersey and Maine, retiring in 1995 after 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Catherine (Tantum) Greene of Clinton; their children, Susan Richardson and her husband, Ken, of Canaan, Harold Greene Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Moneta, Va., Richard Greene and his wife, Sharon, of Bowdoinham and James Greene and his partner, John Doane, of Greene; four grandchildren, Kelly Ivins, Ryan Greene, Zachary Greene and Lauren Greene; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Dalton Blodgett; a sister, Delores Clark and her husband, James, of Reidsville, N.C.; many nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Annie. He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Bruce Greene; and eight sisters, Mary Hildreth, Pearl Griggs, Lena Parrish, Freda McKenney, Pauline Peterson, Marie Grignon, Dorothy Sanborn and Ruth VanFliet.

Friends may call 2-3 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Corinna Chapel of Crosby & Neal, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna. Private burial will be at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna.
