NEW CANADA – Lawrence E. Pelletier, 82, died peacefully June 5, 2011, at Forest Hill Manor, Fort Kent, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 7, 1928, in New Canada, son of Lezime and Laura (LaChance) Pelletier.
He married Theresa Martin Nov. 24, 1948, and together, for 62 years, they raised 10 children. He was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish, Daigle, until its closure in 2000. He then become a communicant of St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent. He was a lifetime member Council No. 1934 Knight of Columbus, Fort Kent. He enjoyed farming on the family farm for years until it was not economically feasible. He then went on to become a truck driver for Pelletier & Pelletier Inc. for 35 years until his retirement. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa of Fort Kent; and children, Patricia Labonte of Manchester, Conn., Arnold Wilmer Pelletier and his wife, Betty, of Canton, Conn., Carroll Pelletier of Terryville, Conn., Rodney Pelletier and his wife, Diane, of New Canada, Jean Theriault and her husband, Bill, of Sinclair, Lisa Bouchard of Plainville, Conn., and Sandra Pinette and her husband, Peter, of Fort Kent. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Rella Daigle of Fort Kent; and brother, Gilman Pelletier of Delray Beach, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three children, Eldon Pelletier, Jan. 15, 1953, Kathy Pelletier Voisine, June 4, 1988, and Donald Pelletier, Dec. 4, 1997; two grandsons, Michael and Adam Pelletier; five brothers, Edwin, Leo Paul, George Emile, Richard and Donald Pelletier; one sister, Lorraine Bennett McCarthy; son-in-law, Richard Labonte; and daughter-in-law, Corinne Pelletier.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday until of the time of service at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be afterward at Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle.
