EAST MILLINOCKET – Maria E. Lynch, 69, passed away peacefully June 5, 2011, to be with her Savior, with her family by her side. She was a devout Catholic with a firm belief that everything that happens in life is God’s will. She was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Millinocket, where they knew her in Little Italy as Cookie.
She graduated from Stearns High School, where she met George, the love of her life. They enjoyed 52 years together and raised four children. She loved camping at Jo-Mary and her summers on Cedar Lake at their camp. She loved to swim, play games, read books, crochet, knitting and having coffee with her friends. She loved her trips to the slots, and will be remembered crocheting and knitting while watching the Red Sox. She loved her church and following her grandchildren’s events, but Maria’s greatest joy was having her family around and cooking for them. She loved to rock her grandbabies and to have everyone in her home for the holidays.
Maria is survived by her husband, George “Pat” Lynch; her daughter, Nancy (Lynch) Perkins; her son, Frederick Lynch and his wife, Kelly; son, Gregory Lynch; six grandchildren, Jaimie Assignon and husband-to-be, Don Marquis, Jason Tapley, Tyler Lynch, Chelsea Lynch, Jessica Jourdain and husband, Joe, William Lynch and partner, Nicole Requera; five great-grandchildren, Oceana, Spencer, Cooper, Cameron and Evan; brother, Fred Boyer and wife, Jane; sister, Helen Owens; brother-in-law, James Lynch and his wife, Suzanne; several special aunts, cousins, neighbors and friends. In addition to her parents, Lloyd and Elvira Boyer, Maria was predeceased by her son, Steven; and her sister, Nancy Boyer.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with Father Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
