MILFORD – Our beloved mother, Esther Ava Bradeen, 96, died June 13, 2011, after a decline in her health at The Meadows Assisted Living Facility, Old Town. She was born April 28, 1915, in Brookton, the fifth child of Edward L. and Ethel M. (Armstrong) Clough.

She grew up in Brookton and attended local schools. In 1936, she married our father, Cecil “Cy” R. Bradeen and they started their life together in a log cabin in Codyville. They moved to Old Town for a short time before moving to Milford in 1939, where she has resided for more than 70 years. Being a homemaker, she loved her handiwork including quilting, knitting and crocheting. She loved to travel the Maine woods with anyone who would take her, always looking for moose. She was a member of Milford Congregational Church and the Ladies Aid. She always had many friends and belonged to T.D.F. (Ten Dear Friends).

She will be greatly missed by her children and their families: daughter, Marge Thibodeau and her husband, Robert, of Otis; son, Shirley Bradeen and his wife, Nancy, of Milford; daughter, Janet Esther Murphy and her husband, Paul, of Orono; grandchildren, Tanya Phillips of Old Town, Jennifer Yerxa and Matt Fortin of Denmark, Ben and Kim Bradeen of Bradley, Veronica and Brian Lachapelle of Hampden and Patrick and Betsy Murphy of Winterport; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Michael and Laura Noddin, Parker and Braden Harriman, Kaylen and Kilee Bradeen,

Erin, Emily, Eliza and Caitlin Esther Murphy of Winterport; special niece, Reta Esther Severance; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and good friends, Betty Demont and Patricia Abbott. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and four brothers and three sisters. Our family expresses our many thanks to her doctor, Patricia Elliot, MD at OTFP, the entire staff and residents at The Meadows, and to Hospice of St. Joseph for the love, care, and compassion to her and the family.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Milford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Meadows Activity Fund, 110 Perkins Avenue, Old Town, ME 04468. Condolences may be left at
