ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Phylis Hamilton Webster, 95, passed away June 8, 2011. She was born Oct. 31, 1915, in South Portland.

After spending most of her life in Bangor, she spent the last 23 years in Englewood, Fla. Phylis graduated from South Portland High School in 1932 and the University of Maine in 1936, where she was honorary lieutenant colonel of the ROTC ball and alumnae class secretary for 25 years. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood and “The Quipus.” She volunteered at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, for 25 years. Phyl loved playing golf, bridge and tennis. She achieved three holes-in-one, the last at age 89. She spent 43 wonderful summers at the Isle of Springs near Boothbay. Always active, smiling and upbeat, she leaves many friends who love her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin P. Webster of Bangor; and brother, C.F. Hamilton of South Portland. She leaves a loving family:

her daughter, Judith Underkofler of Clinton, Mass.; three grandsons, Daniel Underkofler of Lafayette, Colo., Jay Underkofler of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Mark Underkofler of W. Boylston, Mass.; and six wonderful great-grandchildren.
