SKOWHEGAN – Ruth Yvette Parker, 91, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, in Brewer, with her family by her side. She was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Edward H. and Phoebe (Miller) Vigue.

She was educated in Skowhegan schools. She married Alfred S. Parker, in 1946, in Skowhegan. Ruth worked at Norwock Shoe Co., Skowhegan, for many years; she also worked the hot lunch program in the cafeteria at Skowhegan Junior High School for many years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, going shopping, raising strawberries, going flea marketing and picnicking. She loved the time she spent with her family.

Ruth is survived by her son, Gerry G. Parker and his wife, Pamela, of Hampden; two grandchildren, Gregory and Stephen; three great-grandchildren, Kylee, Bryanna and Connor; one sister, Edna Gerry of Bingham; and one brother, Kenneth Vigue of Skowhegan. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Parker; and sisters, Ora Boulette and Theresa Rickey.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water Street, Skowhegan, with a burial after at Calvary Cemetery, Skowhegan.
