CLIFTON – Anne Elizabeth (Hayden) McGreevy Tyler, 45, wife of James Tyler, died unexpectedly June 15, 2011, at her home. She was born Sept. 4, 1965, in Auckland, New Zealand, the daughter of Alvin and Janet (Smith) Hayden.

Anne was a truly kind and gentle soul. She loved her son, Stephen and her husband, Jim, deeply, as she did all those close to her. She loved to travel and she loved the U.S. almost as much as she loved her native land of New Zealand. Few who met her could ever forget her. She was a beautiful woman on the inside, as well as the outside. She loved all children, Gracie the cat, the call of the loons on the pond, the baby ducks and especially her favorite chipmunk, “Cheeks.” Her varied career included television broadcasting, development, personal care giving, and most recently, advertising sales for Target Marketing Maine. She loved to entertain at home and many will remember her hospitality. Though new to the sport, she rapidly became a University of Maine hockey fan and loved games at Alfond Arena, or in any arena where UMaine won. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, James M. “Jim” Tyler of Clifton; parents, Alvin and Janet Hayden of Whangaparaoa, New Zealand; a son, Stephen McGreevy of New Zealand; sisters, Fiona Hayden, and Deborah Dazeley and her husband, Andrew; aunt, Helen Ottosen and her husband, Lynge; aunt, Valerie Furneaux and her husband, Brian; uncle, Ian Smith, all of New Zealand; stepdaughter, Libby Tyler of Massachusetts; stepson, Ben Tyler of Bangor; cousins, Laura and William Furneaux and Robert and Elizabeth Ottosen, all of New Zealand; a special niece, Charlotte; and nephew, Harrison; many friends – lifelong and new. She was predeceased by her dearly beloved grandparents, Jean Irvine-Smith and Kenneth Smith “Poppa.”

A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating.
