MILLINOCKET – Marion E. McInnis, 79, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her home. She was born April 6, 1932, in Millinocket, daughter of Michael A. and Hazel M. (Wright) McDonald.
Marion grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1950. At the age of 16, after the death of her mother, she took on the role of mother to her four younger siblings, a responsibility she fulfilled until marrying and raising her own family. Marion was a lifelong, active member of Millinocket Baptist Church, where she served on many committees, as well as member and chair of the board of trustees. She also owned and operated her own catering business for many years, taking part in many weddings, funerals and family events, and functions for Great Northern Paper Co. Marion was passionate about her faith, her family and church family. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed the fine art of practical jokes, as well as being nimble handed with crafts and working crossword puzzles, and was a regular Sunday afternoon observer of televised golf tournaments. She will be remembered as a strong spirit, who accomplished much with excellence.
She is survived by three daughters, Catherine McInnis of Portland, Margaret McInnis of North Carolina and Mary Morin and her husband, Tim, of Winterport; a son, Donald McInnis Jr. of Millinocket; a special adopted daughter, Jane Richards of Brewer; four grandchildren, Michaela Carstens, Camden Carstens, Christian Morin and Megan Morin; three siblings, Shirley Fernald, Margaret Fayle and Raymond MacDonald and his wife, Barbara; the father of her children, Donald McInnis of Millinocket; three sisters-in-law, Florence McDonald, Ingrid MacDonald and Lorraine MacKenzie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by six brothers, Howard, Mitchell, Frances, Ernest, John and Angus; two sisters, Dorothy Kelley and Alice Astle; and a nephew, Michael MacDonald. The family extends a special thank you to Marion’s special friends and care givers for the last two years, Faye and Marie from North Carolina, and Debbie Kranich, Penny Sharpe and Donna Graham – her Millinocket care givers.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket. Friends are invited to visit with the family during the hour preceding the service. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
