VERONA ISLAND – Geraldine J. Hopkins, 77, passed away peacefully June 18, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Orland, the daughter of Oscar and Emily (Phinney) Smith.
Gerry was a hard worker, a good cook, loved her garden and enjoyed bowling. She married Milton P. Hopkins July 13, 1952. He predeceased her Aug. 2, 1992.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Robshaw and her husband, Edward; granddaughter, Shanna Soper and her husband, Chris; grandson, Shaun Robshaw and his partner, Lynn Gray, all of Verona Island; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Soper, Shealynn Robshaw and Avery Robshaw; and four sisters, Maxine Atwood of Hampden, Barbara Calvi of Orrington, Emily Benson of Holden and Brenda Tinker of Bucksport. She will also be remembered special friends, Patty Bridges and Pat Bridges; and companion, Ward Grant. Gerry was predeceased by her parents; husband, Milton Hopkins, in 1992; daughter, Rhonda Hopkins, in 1953; sisters and brothers, Mila Moore, Walter Smith, Frank Smith, Ralph Smith, Charlie Smith, Bobby Smith, Patsy Witham and Sheldon Smith; and special friend, Wyone Radley. The family thanks Westgate Manor for loving her when her family couldn’t be there.
Graveside services will held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Bridges Cemetery, Eastside Drive, Verona Island, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
