BELFAST, N.Y. – Martin K. Bouchard, “Muttly,” 56, formerly of Millinocket, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011, while working on his home.

Marty was born Oct. 7, 1954, in Millinocket, to parents Robert and Patricia Bouchard.

Marty attended Stearns High School, graduating with the Class of 1973, and worked at Great Northern Paper Co. In 1977 he moved to Buffalo, N.Y., with his beloved wife, Sharon (Cooper) Bouchard and worked for Hale’s Office Systems, installing high density filing systems for industries and businesses. Marty retired in 1999 from Hale’s and became self-employed doing carpentry work and other handy man jobs for many people. He left Buffalo, N.Y., to fulfill his dream in Belfast, N.Y. He bought a portable sawmill and built an octagon shaped log home by himself with Sharon by his side. He entered his home into a nationwide contest held by Norwood Sawmills and won first place for the outside and second place for the inside. Marty lived life to its fullest, he enjoyed his passions, such as softball, hunting, fishing and working in his workshop building furniture.

Marty is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon; his mother, Patricia of Millinocket; his brother, Stephen and wife, Carolyn Bouchard; sister, Karen and husband, Herman Morrow; brother, Keith Bouchard, all of Millinocket, sister, Kathi and husband, Roch Gallant, of Bangor; sister, Kim and husband, Jeff Smart, of Skowhegan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Bouchard.

Services were held in New York with family and friends in attendance. There will be a celebration of Marty’s life 6-9 p.m. July 16 at Millinocket Elks Club. Donations may be made in Marty’s name to Katahdin Area Support Group. Cards of condolences will be passed along to Sharon.
