BANGOR – Parker B. Rand Jr., 63, husband of Laura (Mace) Rand, passed away June 25, 2011. He was born in Bangor, son of Parker B. Sr. Rand and Margaret L. (Logan) Rand.
Parker was employed as a GIS specialist with USDA Farm Service Agency, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a registered master Maine guide, and was an avid fisherman and duck hunter, who was a supporter and advocate of conservation of Maine’s natural resources. Parker was a wonderful grandfather, known as “Buppah.”
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 42 years of Bangor are two children, Rebecca Costigan and her husband, Anthony J., of Holden, and Parker B. John Rand III and his wife, Melodie (Baxter) Rand, of Manchester; grandchildren, Eliza Costigan, Nicholas Costigan, Marah Rand and Parker F. Rand; and sisters, Lorraine and Cynthia Rand, both of Portland, Paula Quinn of Belfast, and Regina Rand of Old Orchard Beach. He was predeceased by his parents.
Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring his life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30.
