CORINTH – Winifred Inez (Burton) Mitchell died unexpectedly June 25, 2011, at her home. She was born July 17, 1926, in Dexter, to Georgia Anna and Darroll E. Burton.

Winnie was a graduate of N.H. Fay High School, Dexter. She worked for many years at the Waterville Sentinal newspaper as a linotype operator and as a proofreader at the Bangor Daily News, where she retired in 1982. Winnie was on the board of Corinthian Manor planning committee, Red Hat Society at Sunbury Village and Golden Age Society, Dexter.

Winnie was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Malcolm Winfield Mitchell. She is survived by her three children, Susan Libby and husband, Mark, of Bradford, Russell Mitchell and wife, Sandra, of Ramona, Calif., and Terry Mitchell and wife, Linda, of Garland. She has eight beautiful grandchildren, Elise Hutchins and husband, Matthew, of Lovell, Malcolm Alexander and Marissa Mitchell of Garland, Shiloh, Shantel, Joshua, Jacob and Cammeron of Ramona, Calif. She has 21/2 great-grandchildren, Pierce and Dylan, and Kyra, who will be born in August.

A graveside memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Corinthian Cemetery, Exeter Road, Corinth.
