MILBRIDGE – Lawrence “Larry” W. Fickett, 75, died June 25, 2011, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1936, in Abington Township, Pa., son of Julian S. and Anna R. (Wittwer) Fickett.
Larry attended Abington Township schools and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, Class of 1955 and from Temple University in 1959. He operated a Sunoco Station in Glenside and then in North Hills, Pa., for many years. He and his wife owned Old Dutch Mill Campground, Kutztown, Pa., from 1988 to 2002. In 2002 they moved to Milbridge. Larry was involved with Boy Scouts of America as a child and later as an adult in many different capacities. Larry loved trains and volunteered for Reading Co. Technical and Historical Society in Pennsylvania and Downeast Scenic Railroad, Ellsworth. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church – St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Cherryfield.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Donahue) Fickett of Milbridge; two sons, Lawrence W. Jr. and John P. Fickett, both of Kutztown, Pa.; four daughters, Fay M. Kiefer and husband, Steve, of Quakertown, Pa., Anna R. Felker and husband, Bruce, of Horsham, Pa., Patricia “Trish” Fickett of Tuscarora, Pa., and Janet M. Plasha and husband, Bruce, of Andreas, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held 9 a.m. Friday, July 1, at St. Michael’s Church, Cherryfield. A reception will be after.
