REVERE, Mass., and BANGOR – Nicholas F. Ferrala Sr., 81, died peacefully June 26, 2011, surrounded by his family at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Charlestown, Mass., spent most of his life in Revere, Mass., and his later years were spent with his family in Bangor. Nick was an auto mechanic, who loved tinkering with things.

Surviving, in addition to his devoted wife of 52 years, Frances, are three children, Nick Jr., Mike, and Karen Carson and her husband, James; six grandchildren, Anthony, Gracie, Sophia, Abigail, Rebecca and Fletcher; one great-grandson, Kamryn; two brothers, Anthony and his wife, Patricia, and Tommy Faretra; two sisters, Louise Champa and Janie Sullivan; many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at St. Paul the Apostle, St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor.
