TROY – Clinton Piper, 85, died June 30, 2011, at home with his family. Clinton was born March 22, 1926, in Dixmont, son of Seavey and Erma Piper.

He graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1944 and entered the military from Guard Reserve Feb. 14, 1945. He served in the South Pacific until the end of the war, when he attended the University of Maine, receiving a two-year degree in agriculture in 1949. Clinton returned to the farm and married his wife of 53 years, Pauline Mason. He concentrated his efforts on maintaining the family farm and was recognized for 50 years of membership in the Farm Bureau, in which he served many years as county treasurer. He attended Troy Union Church, loved snowmobiling, woodworking and making doll houses in his converted milk room.

He is survived by his sister, Shirly and husband, Wayne Porter, of Orono; three children, Neil and wife, Connie Piper, of Gorham, Gail Piper, and Vicki and husband, Timothy, of Troy; three grandchildren, extended family and had

a special relationship with Helen Morse of Clinton.

A committal service will take place noon July 16 at Roger’s Cemetery, Troy, with an open house afterward at the Troy Homestead. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to Troy Union Church Steeple Fund, 230 Bangor Road, Troy, ME 04987.
