PRESQUE ISLE – Dennis E. Dyer, 69, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born July 5, 1941, in Presque Isle, the son of Ellsworth and Lovina (Archer) Dyer.

Dennis grew up in Presque Isle and attended local schools. He worked 29 years for Buck Construction. He was known for his singing, as well as for his sense of humor and sarcasm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandson, Jeramiah.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Hayden) Dyer of Presque Isle; two sons, Dennis Dyer Jr. and his wife, Monica, of Presque Isle and Jeff Dyer and his partner, Alwynn Mattern, of New London, Conn.; two daughters, Shelly Dyer and her partner, Earl Morris, of Presque Isle and Cheri Michaud and her husband, Mike, of Presque Isle; 12 grandchildren, Lacey, Jessica, Crystal, Curtis, Michelle, Brian, Blake, Justin, Travis, Whitney, Mike and Alec; and a great-grandson, Jeramiah. He also leaves behind two brothers, Elwood Dyer of Presque Isle and Robert Dyer of Indiana; five sisters, Bridie Doak of Presque Isle, Christine Moore of Colorado, Marian Brayall of Rhode Island, Myrtle Pelullo of Massachusetts and Sheila Bonville of Presque Isle; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Ellsworth “Buster” Dyer, Bernard Dyer, Donald Dyer and Alden Dyer; and two sisters, Madeline Haley and Bernadette Dyer. The family thanks Buck Construction for all the help they have been in this last year.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Darren Bonville officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service. Interment will take place after the service at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O.
