GUILFORD – Joyce C. Moore, 80, passed away July 7, 2011, at her residence. She was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Guilford, a daughter of John W. Clark Sr. and Mary (Schofield) Clark.

Joyce graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1948, and was employed at Hardwood Products for three and a half years, then as a clerk typist in Washington, D.C., for a few months prior to her marriage to Carroll Moore in June 1952. She lived in Abbot all her life until August 2008, when after Carroll’s death, she moved to Guilford and very much enjoyed her “new” home. She dearly loved family, the outdoors, all of nature, pets and wildlife. Her many pets throughout the years were a source of great joy to her. She enjoyed several months each winter for many years in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was a member of Abbot Historical Society. She served for two terms on SAD 4 board of directors. She loved to feed and watch wild birds, read, walk and bike.

She was predeceased by her husband of 551/2 years in January 2008. She is survived by two beloved sons, John C. of Monson and Jeffrey C. and his wife, Glenda, of Abbot; three much loved grandchildren, Reggie, John II and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Zachery, Alli, Alexander and Kiara. She and John II always enjoyed a special bond and Joyce so appreciated the friendships two former daughters-in-law, Jane and Anita, maintained with her. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Clark of Abbot.

At her request, there will be no public service. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Standwood Wildlife Sanctuary, P.O. Box 485, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or Community Health & Counseling, 1093 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford. For an online guest register, go to
