EAST MACHIAS – Margaret Mary Hukki, 87, died July 7, 2011, at Down East Community Hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Norfolk, Va., the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Mulvey) Wiswell.
She had a strong passion for nursing, and was employed for many years at Down East Community Hospital, having served as the director of nurses. She also enjoyed the times she spent on Rocky Lake.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Martin R. Hukki. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Woodland of Texas; a sister, Sister Mary Doris Wiswell of Ocean Grove, N.J.; a brother, John Wiswell of Logansville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Mike, Jason and Marty; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces nephews and cousins.
Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
