GORHAM, Maine — Police in Maine say the pilot of an ultralight aircraft escaped injury after parachuting to safety as the plane crashed.
Police and firefighters responded in Gorham on Sunday when the aircraft plunged into a tree line shortly after 7:30 p.m., near Longfellow Road and Brackett Street.
Authorities say the aircraft’s engine stopped.
The Portland Press Herald reports that Stephen Berry, 67, deployed an emergency parachute and wasn’t hurt.
