EAST MILLINOCKET – Stella Bernice “Bunny” Jarvis, 84, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born March 24,1927, in Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, the first child of Frank R. and Agnes A. (Roche) Jarvis

Bunny Jarvis began her lifetime involvement with Eastmill Federal Credit Union in February 1957. At this time, she was offered the position of teller in the mill office at Great Northern Paper Co. In 1974, Bunny succeeded Frank Belanger as treasurer/manager. At that time there were very few women who held the position of treasurer/manager in the Credit Union Community. Bunny was considered a pioneer by her community and credit union peers. She held this position until her retirement in 1989. Bunny was a lifelong communicant at St Peters Catholic Church where she served a number of years on the parish council and chaired the finance committee.

Bunny is survived by her sister, Rita and her husband, Donald Nisbett, of East Millinocket; nephews, Thomas Jarvis and his wife, Anne, of Lewiston, John and his wife, Susan, of Wells Beach; niece Jean Marie and her husband, Jon Myers, of East Millinocket; and nephews, Jerry Nisbett of South Berwick, and Mark Nisbett and his wife, Amy, of Bangor. Lovingly known as “Aunt Jeannie,” Bunny leaves behind and will be missed by several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She also leaves behind a close cousin, Barbara (Roche) Bouffard of Farmington; and two very close friends, Betty Stanley and Donna Pound. In addition to her parents, Bunny was predeceased by her brother, Gordon “Sonny” Jarvis; and sister-in-law, Theresa (Wallace) Jarvis.

Friends may visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peters Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
