NEWPORT – Leo Alvin Overlock, 88, died July 16, 2011, at his Sebasticook Avenue residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Hermon, a son of Norman and Bertha (Pomroy) Overlock.

He worked at Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna, for more than 30 years, but had also been employed in everything from bisquit sales to hauling logs. He married Elaine Marshall, Dec. 2, 1950, and she predeceased him Oct. 1, 2007. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking long rides with his daughters. He will also be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce and husband, Clifford Lones, of Newport, and Emily and husband, Tech. Sgt. Merle Goodridge, U.S. Air Force, retired, of North Pole, Alaska; two brothers, Beverly and wife, Patricia, and Charles and wife, Kathy, all of Hermon; five sisters, Jenny and husband, the Rev. Harrison Sylvester, of Carmel, Geraldine Ogden of Florida, Celia and husband, Elwood “Woody” Beckwith, Jeanette and husband, Robert Farrar, all of Hermon, and Gloria “Dodo” and husband, Charles Spencer, of Sanford; two grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Ryan and wife, Nicole Goodridge, of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, and Heather and husband, Staff Sgt. Wesley “Woody” Woods, of Fort Benning, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Christian, Hunter and Alexis; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Leo was predeceased by a son, Lawrence; a brother, Perley, and sister, Eleanor Toth.

Graveside committal services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the family lot in Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
