PORTLAND – Marguerite “Betty” Parent, 72, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at Maine Medical Center. She was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Portland, daughter of the late Thomas and Agnus (Murphy) Mannion.
To describe Betty, the first word that comes to mind is great. She was a great lady, wife, mother and cook. She was married to the love of her life, James W. Parent, Aug. 12, 1967, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. She gained much joy dancing to the big band era music with James. Sharing time with her family was a special part of her life. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Shira; and brothers, Thomas “Ducky” Mannion and Donald Mannion. She is survived by her loving husband, James W. Parent; daughter, Vickie Ramirez; sister, Mary Egan; brother, Steven Mannion and his wife, Ursula; sister-in-law, Barbara Mannion; granddaughters, Amelia Shepp and Katie Ramirez; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, where prayers will be recited 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 22.
