MADAWASKA – Alan J. Albert, 58, passed away July 27, 2011, at his residence. He was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, son of Joseph and Therese (Chasse) Albert.

He graduated from Madawaska High School in 1971, and went on to graduate from the University of Maine in Fort Kent in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also received an associate degree in applied science in pulp and paper technology from Kennebec Valley Technical College in 2003. He worked as a supervisor at Twin Rivers Paper Co., formerly Fraser Paper, for more than 30 years. Alan was a great woodworker. His many projects adorn the houses of those he loved. They will forever be treasured by his family. Gardening was another love of Alan’s. His tomato plants always yielded more fruit than one family could consume. In his spare time he loved to go for long aimless drives on the back roads. He enjoyed seeing wildlife and the beautiful scenery of northern Maine.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan M. (Pelletier) Albert of Madawaska; his mother, Therese (Chasse) Albert of Madawaska; his daughter, Amy Plourde and her husband, Gary, of Otisfield; two sons, Erik Albert and his wife, Pam, of Bangor, and Rodney Albert of Massachusetts; his beloved grandson, Nathan Alan Plourde of Otisfield; his sister, Hilda Myers and her husband, Clayton, of Madawaska; three brothers, Herbert Albert and his wife, Patricia, of Frenchville, Stan Albert of Fort Kent, and Ray Paul Albert of Brunswick; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph “Pit” Albert.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 8:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held immediately after the service in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edgar J. Paradis Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
