EXETER – Marguerite Alice Whitcomb, 85, entered the gates of heaven July 28, 2011. She was born March 29, 1926, in Brewer, daughter of Frank A. and Ada L. (Hall) Noble.

Marguerite graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1943. She worked for Joe Fleming Co. and Boy Scouts of America before retiring to raise a family. Marguerite was an avid snowmobiler and was a member of Maine Snowmobile Association. Later in life she was a member of Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Floyd. Surviving are her sons, Brian Hamel and his wife, Kathy, and Dana Hamel and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Sandra Kennett; two stepsons, Russ Whitcomb and his wife, Joyce, and Larry Whitcomb and his wife, Rose; grandchildren, Erin and Dee Weber, Heather and Kevin Russell, Rebecca and Chris Villa, Racheal and Shawn Peavie, Jessica and David Acosta, Bridget and Jonathan Meraz, and Sean Weber and Danny Higgins; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends, including Brenda Alder, Sandra and Dean Eastman, and members of South Levant Baptist Church. A special thank you to everyone at Ross Manor for the wonderful care they provided Marguerite.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Aug. 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments noon-1 p.m. Monday at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. The interment will be immediately afterward at Cider Hill Cemetery, Exeter.
