DEER ISLE – Paula Dain (McGuire) Senecal, 71, formerly of Northboro, Mass., passed away peacefully July 22, 2011, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born June 15, 1940, in Castine, and spent the last five years on the island that she grew up on. Paula was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Eleanor (Hardy) McGuire.
Paula was employed for several years by AC Senecal Electric, Shrewsbury, Mass., and MEKontrol, Northboro, Mass., but spent most of her time raising her five children in Northboro for 40 years before retiring to her childhood home.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening and “service” with her sisters. She was a 1958 graduate of Stonington High School and a 1960 graduate of Husson College. In 1993 Paula received her associate degree in hotel restaurant management from Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester, Mass.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Theresa; her brothers, Thomas J. and Frank McGuire; and her sister, Margaret (McGuire) Brush. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Robert E. Senecal of Deer Isle; her daughter, Susan Senecal of Stonington; her sons, Robert E. and his wife, Gail, of Deer Isle, Timothy P. and his wife, Kathleen, of Barre, Mass., Michael J. of Deer Isle and Stephen A. and his wife, Deborah, of Worcester, Mass.; her sisters, Janice McGuire of Sunset and Susan Dalla of Lakewood, Colo.; her brother, Robert McGuire of Holden; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and very close friends, Robert and Tammy Gleeson of Northboro, Mass., Lori Boyce and Stuart Varisco of Stonington.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at St. Mary’s Church, Stonington. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, Reach Road, Deer Isle. The family invites relatives and friends for a life celebration after the burial at Paula’s home, 25 Oak Point Road, Deer Isle.
