OLD TOWN – Carolyn M. King, 67, passed away Aug. 4, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 29, 1944, in Old Town, daughter of Raymond F. and Vera (Richards) Bishop.
Carolyn was a supervisor of the dormitory at the University of Maine, Orono. She was a member of Pine Tree Snowmobile Club, Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord Parish, a Child of Mary, and also part of Red Hat Society. Carolyn enjoyed crafts and camping with her family at Abol camp and at Branch Lake in Ellsworth.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Fred Jr.; son, Mark Anthony King and his significant other, Annette, of Old Town; brother, Richard Bishop and wife, Rose, of Rhode Island; sisters-in-law, Patty Moreau and her husband, Gene, of Farmingdale, and Sheila Pelletier of Stillwater; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her brother, Francis and his wife, Carmen. The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff at CancerCare of Maine, especially Dr. Andreescu, Jan Pinlotte, P.A., Nadine, Lee, Jackalin, Kim, Marcy, Janet, Jewels, Donna, Donna, Laura and Tara; the wound care staff at St. Joseph Hospital; the staff on Grant 4 at Eastern Maine Medical Center; the staff at New Hope Hospice, Eddington; and all of Carolyn’s relatives and friends who gave so much of their love and prayers.
A memorial visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a prayer service will be held 11 a.m. Afterward, all are invited to a light luncheon in the parish hall at Holy Family Church.
