FORT FAIRFIELD – Kevin G. Helstrom, 34, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, 2011, in Easton, as the result of an all-terrain vehicle accident. He was born Oct. 11, 1976, in Presque Isle, son of Gary E. and Connie L. (Johndro) Helstrom.
Kevin was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1995. He was employed as a state of Maine tablestock potato inspector for 12 years, and also owned and operated Helstrom Apartments, Fort Fairfield. He was married to Billie-Jo Rideout, July 19, 1997, and was a member of Fort Fairfield Snowmobile Club and Fort Fairfield Fish and Game Club. Kevin enjoyed many outdoor activities, including truck pulls, fishing, hunting and riding all-terrain vehicles.
He was predeceased by one sister, Nickie Helstrom. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Billie-Jo Helstrom; mother, Connie L. Jarvis and her husband, Robert; father, Gary E. Helstrom; one son, Jesse Kevin Helstrom; one daughter, Sydney Mackenzie Helstrom, all of Fort Fairfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy A. and Stacy Ladner of Fort Fairfield, Scott and Tracy Helstrom of Limestone, and Stephen and Carolyn Helstrom of Newport News, Va.; several nieces and nephews, many, many good friends and extended family members.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment will be held after the Mass at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send contributions in memory of Kevin to establish a college scholarship fund for his children, care of Tammy Cyr, 86 South Caribou Road, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
