COLUMBIA FALLS – Stanley Look, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 31, 2011. He was born Sept. 20, 1933.
Stanley was a graduate of Columbia Falls High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Maine. A Korean War veteran, Stanley retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service as a technical sergeant. Among his many accomplishments, Stanley was a certified flight instructor, a linguist for the U.S. Embassy in Spain, an X-ray technician and a school teacher for SAD 37 for 15 years. He served as Columbia Falls first selectman, major of Civil Air Patrol, and was a member of Columbia Falls Methodist Church, Tuscan Masonic Lodge, Addison, and was an Anah Shriner of Bangor.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Thelma (Higgins) Look; and his brother, George Stillman Look. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Look; his children, Gale S. Coughlin, Tracy L. Kyle, Lee Keeton and John Ryan Look; his brother, Sewell Dale Look; his grandchildren, Sean M. Herlihy, Ashley S. Wakefield, Lacey M. Wakefield, Derek John Keeton, Rachel Lee Keeton and Wesley James Keeton; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney N. Herlihy, Elise Marie Wakefield and Haily Starr Sawyer.
A celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 14 at his home in Columbia Falls. Immediately after the services there will be a barbecue with kite flying. Friends and family invited and are welcome to bring their kites and join in the celebration. A service of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes.
