MILBRIDGE – Alice B. Beal, 67, went to be with the Lord Aug. 6, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Harrington, the daughter of Perlie and Mary (Smith) Grant.

Alice met Owen W. Beal in 1958. Three years later they were married, and the two spent the next 50 years raising a family and touching the lives of everyone they came in contact with. She owned her own bakery and cake shop for many years, and continued that interest after her shop closed by teaching classes and decorating cakes for family and friends. Known as “Nanny Alice” to all of her daycare kids, she will always hold a special place in their hearts. Several years ago Alice became interested in genealogy and it remained her passion to the end. She was also an avid Red Sox Fan, however the most important aspect of her life was her family. The blessing that she brought to her family was her love and devotion to each and everyone one of them. Alice’s love for her spiritual family and God was evident by the life that she lived.
