VAN BUREN – James St. Pierre, 73, died Aug. 14, 2011, at a Caribou hospital. He was born June 9, 1938, in Caribou, son of Albert and Irene (Duplessis) St. Pierre.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was self-employed as a cattle and dairy farmer for 25 years. Jim was a very active participant in his parish and faith communities. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren, where he served as Grand Knight for three years. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly. He was very active in the Cursillo Movement and with ACTS retreats. He enjoyed playing music, especially in ministry and loved playing for the elderly during the holidays.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Nancy (Akerly) St. Pierre of Van Buren; one son, Troy St. Pierre and his wife, Rita, of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Patsy Hill and husband, Chance, of Belleview, Fla.; two brothers, Albert St. Pierre of Caribou and Gilman St. Pierre of Lake Placid, Fla.; one sister, Lillian Michaud of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Jimmy, George and Rhonda; and one great-granddaughter, Moriah. He was predeceased by one son, James St. Pierre, in 1975; one granddaughter, Ashley St. Pierre, in 2009; and by a son-in-law, George Desjardins, in 1996.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.
