ASHLAND – Clarence J. Long, 81, passed away Aug. 14, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Portage, son of Thomas and Alice (Dugas) Long.

Clarence was a carpenter and craftsman for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making crafts and dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Rushinal) Long; five children, Larry Long and his wife, Wanda, of Enterprize, Ala., Danny Long and his wife, Jeanne, of Portage Lake, Jeannie (Long) Ouellet and husband, Eugene, of Ashland, Nancy (Long) Samson and husband Ferdenand of Connecticut, and Bonnie (Long) Stevens and husband, Boardman “Bob,” of Garfield; a brother, Norman Long of Ashland; a sister, Stella Long of Florida; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, James and Thomas Long Sr. Special thanks goes to Jeannie and Bonnie for the wonderful care they gave their dad that enabled their parents to remain in their home.
