MEDWAY – Claire Jean Stanley, 54, wife of Barry Stanley, died Aug. 16, 2011, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born Sept. 26, 1956, in Lincoln, daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Allen) Hartford.
Claire was a Girl Scout leader and cheerleading coach in Medway for many years. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jaime. Claire fought a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis for more than 30 years.
In addition to her husband, Barry of Medway, she is survived by a daughter, Jaime Green and John of East Millinocket; two grandchildren, Erick and Emma Green of East Millinocket; four siblings, Sylvia Haskell of Naples, Fla., Fred Hartford and Joanne of Burlington, Curtis Hartford and Barbara, and Tim Hartford and Jill, all of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Mildred Stanley of Medway; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl Stanley and Belinda, Phillip Stanley and Brenda, Michelle Stanley, Janet Otis and Ronnie, all of Medway, Pat Stanley and Judy of East Millinocket, and Scotty Stanley of Medway; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Freda; father-in-law, Carl Stanley Sr.; and brothers-in-law, Albert Haskell and Jimmy Stanley.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. Family and friends may gather after the service at Mildred Stanley’s house.
