MADAWASKA – Valere C. Sirois, 92, died Aug. 15, 2011, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born May 27, 1919, in Madawaska, son of the late Charles and Olive (Sirois) Sirois.
Valere worked for many years at Fraser Paper, as well as a mailman for the U.S. Post Office in Madawaska. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638 of Madawaska.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Francoise (Albert) Sirois of Madawaska; two sons, Roland Sirois and his wife, Maureen, of Port Hope, Ontario, and Dennis Sirois and his wife, Brenda, of Warner Robin, Ga.; seven grandchildren, William, Francis, Matthew, Michelle, Rachel, Stacie and Jessica; one sister, Theresa Signorili of Stamford, Conn.; three brothers, Claude Sirois and his wife, Agnes, Hermel Sirois and his wife, Pierrette, and Charles Sirois and his wife, Rina, all of Madawaska; three sisters-in-law, Claire Sirois and Lucille Sirois, both of Madawaska, and Claire Sirois of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Corinne; and four brothers, Bertrand, Lucien, Conrad and Robert.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m.
