BARING – Marjorie L. Burchill, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center, Calais. Marjorie was born July 20, 1928, in Edmunds, daughter of the late Harry and Thelma (Lingley) Phinney.

Marjorie graduated from Washington Academy and held various jobs until moving to Calais. She worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at Calais A&P for 20 years, Bonnie Wee Lass Clothing Store and at Treworgy Pharmacy, where she worked until her retirement. Marjorie enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Ryan, in 1974; her second husband, John Burchill, in 2004; a sister, Virginia Jones; and a brother, Myron Phinney. Surviving are her son, Dennis Ryan and his wife, Sharon, of Robbinston; three grandchildren, Heidi Ryan-Braughton and her husband, John Braughton, of Calais, Dennis Ryan and his fiancee, Heather McDaniel, of Boothbay Harbor, and Cody Ryan of Middleton, Conn.; two great-grandchildren, Cadence Braughton and Hunter Ryan; her sister, Barbara Dinsmore and her husband, Glen, of Leominster, Mass.; a brother, Dana Lewis of North Carolina; stepdaughter, Jeannie Streeble and her husband, Tim, of Florida; many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at West Lubec Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at
