BAR HARBOR – Winifred “Binnie” E. Parsons, 88, died Aug. 19, 2011, after a long illness. She was born March 25, 1923, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Norman and Bessie N. Paine, and was the youngest of 10 children.

Winifred was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, shopping, reading and being a seamstress. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for Medical Associates for more than 30 years. She was an amazing woman with incredible energy and a strong love of God and family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Winifred is survived by three daughters, Norma J. Lambert, Jeanne E. Fournier and her husband, Lucien, all of East Waterboro, and Bonnie A. Poland and her husband, David, of Bar Harbor; a sister, Grace Abbott of Bar Harbor; seven grandchildren, Scott Lambert and his fiancee, Rezeda Zinyatullova, Kara Sanchez and her husband, Mark, Michelle Link and her husband, Jay, Megan Fournier, Brett Fournier and his fiancee, Lindsy Kemberling, Troy Mitchell and his wife, Amy, and Ross Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Mitchell and Riley Link; several nieces and nephews. Winifred was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, James E. Parsons Sr.; her son, James E. Parsons Jr.; and her son-in-law, Stephen R. Mitchell.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Ledgelawn Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Records officiating. A gathering will be afterward at First Baptist Church.
