STOCKTON SPRINGS – Susan D. “Susie” Kenney, 52, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 4, 1959, in Gardiner, she was the daughter of Richard and Doris Viles Paine.
She was a member of the class of 1977 at Rockland District High School. For 19 years Susie worked with Wardwell Construction & Trucking Co., where she was proud to achieve the license and ability to operate wheeler dump trucks. For the past three years she has worked with Maine Department of Transportation. Susie loved riding motorcycles and was a faithful friend to her many friends. Her longtime friends, Lisa Uhrn, Mary Ard, Norman and Darlene Emery, Jeff and Laverne Davis, Lee and Susan Jackson, Marjorie Cicchini, Leroy and Gayle Hamn, and Doug Mitchell have all helped Susie immensely during her illness. Susie had a heart of gold. She always offered to help family, friends and anyone she met in need.
Susie was predeceased by her grandparents, Philip and Lillian Viles; and a nephew, Phillip Jura. She is survived by her loving companion, Wes Shute of Stockton Springs; her father, Richard Paine and his wife, Beverly, of Augusta; her mother, Doris V. Beal and her husband, Nathan, of Union; her daughter, Roxanne Leigh Johnson and her fiance, Jonathon Kinney, of Winterport; one sister, Linda Jura, who cared for her throughout her illness, and Linda’s companion, Wayne Jackson of Union; three brothers, Dennis E. Norton and his wife, Doris, of Rockport, Kenneth P. Norton of Naples and Daniel L. Norton and his wife, Gail, of Warren; two stepbrothers, Robert Barkley and Gary Barkley, both of Augusta; two stepsisters, Terri Baines and her husband, Jack, of Starks and Rhonda Russell of Thomaston; one granddaughter, Madilyn Gail Johnson, who was the light of her life; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland, where a service will be held 7 p.m.
