DEER ISLE – Winnifred “Winnie” Marie Robbins, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 20, 2011, at Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle. She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Ashland, daughter of the late Leonard and Stella (Howes) Rafford.

Winnifred graduated Ashland area schools and in 1949 graduated from Jubilee Bible Institute, Newport, where she met and married her loving husband, the late Rev. Cecil R. Robbins. As a Sunday school teacher she impacted the lives of many. Winnifred will be remembered fondly as a devoted wife and mother, who made a house into a beautiful home for her family.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated daughters, Jane Robbins-Teel and her husband, Brad, of Veazie and Bonnie Benedix of Blue Hill. Winnifred’s legacy also includes a dear nephew, Erik Robbins of Deer Isle, and his children, Nikki and Lance; a special niece, Jean Bragdon and her husband, Dwight, of Corinth; several other nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Alma Haynes and Josephine Rhys. She was predeceased her son, Dwight, in 2005; her sister, Marjorie Paine; son-in-law, Rene Benedix, in 2002; and by Cecil after 59 years of marriage.

A graveside ceremony will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Evergreen Cemetery, Sunshine, Deer Isle, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Cecil.
