PITTSFIELD – Bruce D. Bartlett left us suddenly Aug. 20, 2011, after a brief illness. He passed in the arms of his family at the age of 64. He was born Sept. 11, 1946, in St. Francis.
Bruce’s love for the outdoors was surpassed only by the love he had for his family. Bruce spent nearly 30 years in the banking industry, but it was in his retirement that he spent all his time doing the things that made him truly happy – being with his family, gardening with his grandson, hunting with buddies, reading a good book by himself or with his grandchildren, and meticulously caring for the grounds around the home that he and Carol built together.
Surviving him are his wife, Carol of Pittsfield; his daughters, Julie Larson and her husband, John, of Saco and Emily McIntosh and her husband, Judson, of Orono, and their children, Gabriel and Alivia; his beloved mother, Elsie Bartlett of Millinocket; and three brothers, Robert Bartlett and wife, Linda, of Falmouth, Richard Bartlett and wife, Suzanne, of Sheffield, Vt., and Michael Bartlett and wife, Sandy, of Portage Lake. Also carrying on his memory are the sisters and brother of his wife, Louise and Robert Lagassey of Bangor, Diane and Bill Ayoob of Wallagrass, Danny and Roberta LaBrie of St. Agatha, Judy and Tom Deschaine of Presque Isle, Terry and David Wagner of Marlborough, Conn., and Elaine and Ken Albert of Oceanside, Calif. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Bartlett.
Friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at First Congregational Church of Christ, 132 Somerset Ave., Pittsfield.
