JONESPORT – June M. (Beale) Smith peacefully went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born May 19, 1928, daughter of James Wellington Beal and Ora Evelyn (Alley) Beal of Jonesport.
She was a graduate of Jonesport High School, Class of 1944. She married Roger L. Beale of Jonesport and together they had two sons and two daughters. She was widowed in 1988. In 2002, she met and married her soul mate, Harold W. Smith of Jonesport and they enjoyed nine years of marriage at Sandy River Beach. She had many seasonal jobs, but her most important job was mother and grandmother and she took this job seriously. Her hobbies were knitting, doing puzzles and word searches. Her afghans, dishcloths and towels, and “Nanny socks” will be greatly missed by all.
She leaves behind two sons and their families, Jackie L. Beal and his wife, Ruth (Schnarr) of Newport News, Va., and Earlon “Tye” L. Beale and his wife, Linda (Yanowski), of Laconia, N.H.; and two daughters, Hazel I. Alley and her husband, Robert W. Alley, of Beals, and Anisa D. Beale-Cokayne and her husband, Harold L. Cokayne, of East Machias; granddaughters, Sheila (Beal) Duggan and husband, Kevin, of Nevada, Bridgette (Alley) Beal and her husband, Bruce, of Beals, Lisa Beale Covey and husband, Charlie, of New Hampshire, Laura Beale of New Hampshire, and Marisa Mitchell of Alexander; and grandsons, Robert Alley Jr. and his wife, Angel, of Addison, Jeffrey Alley and his wife, Lindsey, of Jonesport, Norman Beal and his wife, Kim, of Virginia, and Bryan Mitchell of Alexander; great-granddaughters, Renee’ Jordan and her fiance, D.J. Chandler of Jonesport, Brandee’ Beal of Beals, Jillian Vallee of New Hampshire, Hannah Alley of Addison, Jade and Allyssa Beal of Virginia; great-grandsons, Keith Vallee of New Hampshire, Travis Alley of Addison, Ben Beal of Beals,
Nathaniel and Joshua Gerlarneau of New Hampshire, Brandon Walsh of New Hampshire, Kyle Duggan of Nevada, and Tylor Beal of Virginia; two great-great-granddaughters, Khloei and Khinlei Chandler of Jonesport; one sibling, a beloved sister, Iona (Beal) Polk of Cherryfield;
numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Jonesport Wesleyan Church, Main Street, Jonesport, with viewing noon-1 p.m. Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport.
