PLANTATION 14 – Lorraine G. Maker, a longtime resident of Plantation 14, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, in Calais, at the age of 95. Lorraine was born March 31, 1916, in Lubec.

In 1935 she graduated from Washington Academy and married William Albert Maker III. Together they made a home and raised a family. Lorraine enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and creating jewelry and other crafts. She also enjoyed her work with Washington County Homemakers and her past association with the Rebekah’s. Some of Lorraine’s favorite times were family Christmas gatherings and tending grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Franklin Maker of Eastport; daughters, Bessie Curtis and her husband, Alton, of Dennysville, Geraldine Farley of Edmunds and Carloyn Lowe and her husband, James, of Eastport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, William Albert Maker, in 2000.

Visiting will be held noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Machias Chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home. A graveside ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias. Please share online condolences at
