CAMDEN – Myrtle “Sis” (Pooley) Talbot passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011. She was born March 3, 1931, in Camden, daughter of Chester B. and Frances (Driscoll) Pooley.
A 1949 graduate of Camden High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Johnson Talbot Jr., in 1950. Together, they selflessly raised their four children, all the while emulating the true definition of the words “family” and “home.” A day never passed in which the family wasn’t treated to a tidy home and lovingly prepared meals. After the children were grown, she worked at several local businesses in a secretarial position. At this time, her creative talents shifted to new venues. She learned to play the piano, spent many hours creating artwork and sewing projects, all of which shall be cherished by the family.
Sis is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Johnson Talbot Jr.; and their four children, Alan, Gary, Susan and Sandra Talbot. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Matt Talbot and his wife, Nicole, Morgan Talbot and his wife, Ariel, Emily Buck, Natalie Talbot, and Heidi Jackson. Always fond of children, she was delighted when her two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Jacob Talbot were born. Her daughter-in-law, Joan Talbot, always held a special place in her heart. Sis is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lucille Young and her four children. She was predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Johnson Talbot Sr. and Hazel Talbot; and her brother, Chester E. Pooley. The family extends their grateful appreciation to a very special friend and caregiver, Barbara Thomas, who lovingly cared for Sis throughout the last several years of her life.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Mountain View Cemetery, Camden. Memorial donations may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
