DEXTER – Michael Thomas Minton, 44, of 25 Zions Hill Road, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, after a brief illness. He was the youngest son of Robert and Althea Minton.
Michael graduated from the Dexter school system and then served in the U.S. Navy. After his service he was employed at Dexter Shoe Co. and GE/UTC, Pittsfield. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Michael is survived by his wife, Renee (Robinson) Minton; his mother, Althea (Courtney) Minton of Dexter; his brother, Duane Minton of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; his sisters, Juanita Staples and husband, Terry, of Dexter, Roberta Vivas of Allston, Mass., and Annette Veyn and husband, Tony, of Naples, Fla.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no funeral per his request, but family will gather for a private remembrance. There will be a celebration of his life at a future date.
