PERRY – Forrest L. “Rusty” Apt Jr., son of Forrest and Dianne Apt, died unexpectedly Aug. 23, 2011, at his home with his wife by his side. Rusty was born May 27, 1960, in Boston.

In the early ’80s, Rusty relocated to Sipayik and worked for Connors Aquaculture, and later as a carpenter helping to renovate the youth and recreation center at Sipayik. Rusty served in the Army, specializing in heavy artillery. After serving in the military, he worked for Northeastern University as a security guard. He also trained to become certified in computers and electronics. He also served as a caregiver to those who needed care, and his love was unconditional for everyone he knew and cared about. Rusty loved to read and spend time with family and friends. He also had a passion for cooking and was forever trying to feed someone. He was an avid sports fan and was a devoted fan of the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and especially the Red Sox. His great love was spending time with the many children who were constantly at his home. Although he had no biological children, Rusty was a father to many. He was especially close to Margaret, Kaila, Petak and little “T,” the children he never had. Rusty was family oriented and looked forward to seeing his siblings from Massachusetts visit each year. His favorite pastime was telling stories and coming up with nicknames for each person he came to know. So many of those children he loved are adults now and have little ones of their own. His hope for his children is that they live with truth as their guide, and to love and have compassion and understanding, to be fair but just, no matter what color or creed.

Rusty was predeceased by his father, Forrest L. Apt Sr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret “Dolly” Apt; his mother, Dianne Apt; sisters, Annie Apt-Brackett of Sipayik, Diane Gateman and husband, Joseph Scolesi, of Reading, Mass., and Sheila “Mouse” Apt and partner, Fred Currier, of Sipayik; his brothers, Royce Apt and wife, Elaine, of Perry, and Eric Apt and wife, Michelle, of Holbrook, Mass.; nieces, Kailie, Leela, Hannah and Marie; and nephews, Patrick, Josh, Ryan and Eric.
